Bermuda Grass is more common is the southern United States but also known in Central Kentucky. This type of grass has long tentacle type “shoots” and grows aggressively through the root system.
AS OF 2016 THERE IS NO CHEMICAL ON THE MARKET THAT WILL KILL IT. Some chemicals can suppress it but it will not eliminate it. The best way to remove it is to carefully dig it out of the turf. Leaving any roots behind in the soil will result in the return of Bermuda Grass.
Bermuda Grass is easy to identify because in the cooler fall and winter months its turns light tan because it is dormant. It will become green once the soil warms up in late April or early May.
